Instructions for Patients

Instructions Before Treatment:

• Please do inform us if you are taking any long term prescribed medications or if you are allergic to any medication.
• Please do inform us if you had any complications during your past dental treatment elsewhere.
• Please do take your pretreatment medications as prescribed by us.
• The root canal treatment procedure may take 1 hour duration. On the day of the treatment please have some food at least 1 hour before the treatment procedure.
• Be calm and relaxed. The root canal treatment is a totally painless procedure and will be done under local anesthesia with utmost care and empathy.
• We take immense care and effort in ensuring a stress free and painless experience! So keep smiling !!!
• Please feel freel to clarify all your doubts and queries before the treatment.

Instructions After Treatment:

• The anesthetic effect will take 2-3 hrs to wear off. Hence please do take the pain relieving medicines within 2-3 hrs after the procedure.
• Please avoid taking very hot food for 4 - 6 hours after the root canal treatment, as you might not be able to appreciate the heat due to the anesthetic effect.
• After the root canal treatment, you might experience a dull /mild discomfort for 2-3 days; which will be relieved with the medications prescribed.
• You can continue to brush normally on the root canal treated tooth.
• Please do not chew anything hard like nuts, chocolates, bones etc on the root canal treated tooth till the tooth is crowned or capped later.
• Please get the crowns for the root canal treated tooth done after a weeks time or when you are completely fine after the root canal treatment. The chances of fracture of the root canal treated tooth are higher when the tooth is not crowned (capped)
