Professor V. Gopi Krishna, MDS, PhD, FDSRCS ad hom (UK) is an academician and clinician of international repute in the field of endodontics. He completed his bachelor's degree (BDS) in Dentistry from Annamalai University in 1997 and went on to complete his Masters degree (MDS) in the field of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics in 2002 from the Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai. He was conferred the Best Postgraduate Student Award by the Indian Endodontic Society in 2002. He went on to complete his PhD in the field on Endodontics from Dr MGR Educational & Research Institute University in 2017. He is the second Indian dentist and first Indian endodontist to be conferred the highest honorary fellowship award of FDSRCSEd ad hom from the Royal College of Surgeons - Edinburgh in 2022.
He is the author - editor of three textbooks (nine editions) including Grossman's Endodontic Practice (12th, 13th & 14th editions), Sturdevant's Art and Science of Operative Dentistry (South Asian 1st and 2nd editions), Preclinical Manual of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th editions) that are read by more than 30,000 students annually. He is currently serving as the Associate Editor of European Endodontic Journal and as Adjunct Professor at Sri Ramachandra Dental College, SRIHER University - Chennai, India. He is also the General Secretary for the Indian Endodontic Society and General Sercretary for the Indian Board of Endodontics (the only certifying board for the specialty of endodontics in India).
He was also the Past Editor in Chief of the Pubmed Indexed Journal of Conservative Dentistry from 2008 - 2016 and Past Editor in chief of Scopus Indexed Endodontology Journal from 2019- 2021. He is a prolific researcher who has won more than 25 national and international awards and has more than 60 pubmed indexed publications including international publications in reputed journals like Journal of Endodontics, Operative Dentistry, Australian Endodontic Journal, Oral Surg Oral Path Oral Med & Endodontics and International Journal of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr Gopi Krishna has been conferred with the Fellowship Award of Indian Society of Dental Research (ISDR) for his discovery of the ingenious use of Coconut water as a medium for transport of avulsed tooth. One of the pioneers for using Dental Operating Microscope in India, he has immensely contributed to the evolution of microscopic endodontics by training more than 2000 dentists across Asia. Dr Gopi Krishna has lectured globally and has presented 350 + invited podium lectures globally.
Dr Gopi Krishna's vision is to make a meaningful difference to the quality of dental health care in India by improving our dental education system and by empowering dentists with evidence based clinical skills and acumen. He is also a passionate naturalist with special interest in wildlife photography.
