Dr. V. Gopi Krishna Biodata

Dr. V. Gopi Krishna, BDS, MDS, PhD, FDS RCSEd (UK) ad hominem is a clinician and academician of international repute. He is the Founder Director of Rootcanal Foundation; one of India’s premier endodontic clinical referral centre for treating complicated root canal cases. He has performed more than 25,000 clinical endodontic procedures and is a pioneering micro-endodontist in India.

He is also the President Elect for International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) which is the global association of national endodontic bodies of 49 countries in the field of endodontics. He is the General Secretary for the Indian Endodontic Society.. He is also the Associate Editor of European Endodontic Journal. He is the Founder Director of Root Canal Foundation, based at Chennai, India.

He is the Editor of three reputed textbooks (eleven editions): Grossman’s Endodontic Practice – 12th, 13th, 14th & 15th editions, Sturdevant’s Art and Science of Operative Dentistry– 1st 2nd & 3rd South Asia editions, Preclinical Manual of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics – 1st 2nd 3rd & 4th editions. He has more than 35 Scopus indexed publications in journals like Journal of Endodontics, Operative Dentistry, International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry, OOOE and Australian Endodontic Journal with an author H index of 25. He was also the Editor-in-Chief of the Pubmed indexed Journal of Conservative Dentistry from 2008 - 2016 and Editor in Chief of the Endodontology Journal from 2019-2021.

Dr Gopi Krishna has presented 450 + invited podium lectures globally.

CONTRIBUTIONS OF SIGNIFICANCE:

• The first Indian Endodontist and second Indian dentist to be Awarded the “Fellowship of Dental Surgery of Royal College of Surgeons ad hominem : (FDS RCSEd Ad Hominem) by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, Scotland in 2022. The FDS RCSEd ad hom is the most prestigious fellowship of the Royal College and is awarded to specialists who have contributed significantly to growth and evolution of a medical specialty.

• Editor in Chief of Journal of Conservative Dentistry from 2008 – 2016 (three terms) and made the journal the highest Scopus ranked journal in dentistry from India and third highest ranked dental journal from Asia. The journal also became a Scopus and Pubmed indexed journal during his tenure.
• First Indian and second Asian to be elected as the President Elect of International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) from 2024 – 2026. IFEA is the largest global association representing the national endodontic associations of 50+ countries globally.
• Published 39 Scopus indexed publications having 1000+ citations and author H index – 15.
• First Indian and second Asian to be elected as the Secretary of International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) from 2020 – 2024.
• Founder – General Secretary (2013 – 2025) for the Indian Board of Endodontics (under the aegis of the Indian Endodontic Society), the only board for diplomate certification for endodontists in India.
• First Indian to be elected as Chairman – Education Committee of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations from 2016 – 2020. Under his chairmanship, co-authored the Standard Operating Protocols (SOP) for dental practice during Covid Pandemic.
• Editor in Chief (2019 – 2021) of Endodontology, the national journal of Indian Endodontic Society. The journal became a Scopus indexed journal in 2021 under his leadership.
• Associate Editor of European Endodontic Journal (2017 – till date).
• Organizing secretary for the 12th IFEA World Endodontic Congress 2020ne that was held online from India at Chennai during Sep 2020 and August 2021.
