A Chennai-based endodontist Dr. V. Gopikrishna has made history by becoming the first Indian to head the prestigious International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA).
He took over as President at the 15th World Endodontic Congress held in Sydney, Australia. IFEA is the apex worldwide organization representing national endodontic associations and societies across 49 countries.
Dr. Gopikrishna is the Founder-Director of Root Canal Foundation in Chennai and the renowned author-editor of Grossman's Endodontic Practice. He also serves as the Secretary General of the Indian Endodontic Society.

At the 2nd CME event on Endodontics and Conservative Dentistry held at King George's Medical University (KGMU), dental specialists highlighted an innovative technique known as Vital Pulp Therapy (VPT) as a revolutionary alternative to conventional root canal treatment.
Renowned endodontist Dr. V. Gopikrishna provided a live demonstration of advanced root canal procedures utilizing the dental operating microscope, demonstrating how targeted therapies and bioactive medicaments preserve the natural vitality of pulp tissue.
The event gathered leading academicians and practitioners to discuss minimally invasive protocols, faster recovery times, and enhanced patient comfort in treating deep caries.

In a historic collaboration between wildlife conservationists and endodontic specialists, Dr. V. Gopikrishna and Dr. Gnanavi Packiam from Root Canal Foundation joined forest veterinary officers to perform specialized dental surgery on a 20-month-old male tiger cub at the Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR).
The rescued tiger cub, undergoing rewilding in a 10,000 sq. ft. open enclosure, had damaged its critical upper canine tooth. In a makeshift operation theatre set up in the forest range, the dental specialists performed digital radiography, thoroughly cleared the cavity of tooth fragments, and restored the canine using advanced bioactive Biodentine material under general anaesthesia.
The surgery was widely covered by both The Times of India and The Hindu, celebrating the successful preservation of the apex predator's tooth and its continued journey toward full rewilding.

In one of the highest national honours conferred on an Indian dental academician, Dr. V. Gopikrishna was received at the Rashtrapati Bhavan by the President of India 🇮🇳 during the official launch of his acclaimed dental textbook.
As the Chief Editor of Grossman’s Endodontic Practice (the gold-standard textbook used across universities globally) and author of widely cited textbooks with Elsevier, Dr. Gopikrishna’s contributions to dental literature have shaped the education of generations of dental surgeons in India and across the world.
This recognition at the highest office in the country underscores Root Canal Foundation's steadfast commitment to clinical mastery, scientific excellence, and national pride.
